Children pose in height order outside. Written on verso: "A triple header locomotive Vacation School, Vernal, Utah. We told each pupil on the first day of school that he could be a locomotive if he so desired. The business of a locomotive is, of course, to draw cars. The cars were to be the new pupils. Each day of the first week each of the locomotives which had secured one or more cars marched to the platform during assembly and was applauded by the entire school. At the end of the week we took the picture of hte longest train and gave it as a reward to the locomotive. The present picture is a combination of three locomotives with their cars. The game was much enjoyed by the pupils and served to boost attendance."
