Dent talks amore about the jobs that he had and people who have influenced his writing. He describes some of the friends he made over the years and how the helped him. Dent also touches on psychology and some choices he has made in his career.
Rogers begins by asking Dent how the experiences he had influenced his writing. Dent responds by talking about how the friends he made influenced his writing. Dent tells a story about his time in New York. He describes how he met Calvin Hernton and how they became friends. He also explains how he got in touch with David Henderson and others who all got together to try and start a writing workshop. He says they ended up getting together and tried to make a magazine titled Umbra. He talks about what the group was and how it operated. Dent talks about the impact that writing had on his life. He talks about a guy named Chet Davis who introduced him to Thomas [Braybury?] who was a psychiatrist. He says he gave him guidance and talking to [Braybury?] was helpful. He reflects on his career choice and what he did in his career.
