A letter from Daniel P. Mason to his mother sent from Camp Parapet in Carrollton, Louisiana. Daniel writes that he is doing well and that they had a very long march last week to the city of New Orleans, about [20 miles]. Daniel mentions his salary and that folks "out hear ar doing thir harvesting portatioes ar ripe." He writes a short note to his sister Mary towards the end of his letter informing her that William and Sam are doing well.
