A letter from Daniel P. Mason to his mother sent from Camp Parapet in Carrollton, Louisiana. In his letter, Daniel answers questions from his mother's previous correspondence. He mentions that he is doing well, but has a sore on his thumb. Daniels goes on about his Uncle David, Mr. Hoyt, and how he went to war so that his mother would not have to work so hard. He also explains that he has instructed Uncle David to take care of her if he does not return to New Hampshire. He writes that he had seen Elder D.P. [Ciley] and reserves most of page four for a short note to his sister Mary.
