A letter from Daniel P. Mason to his mother sent from Camp Parapet in Carrollton, Louisiana. In his letter, Daniel writes that he had been sick and that he is now well. Daniel tells his mother that he has written to Uncle David and explains that everyone thinks they will be going home in either June or July. Daniel claims that he does not mind staying longer because of how well he is being fed: "fresh stake fried & new portatioes." The last page of his letter is reserved for two short notes to his sisters Mary and Abby.
