Ledger includes the name and residence of registered students, course level, preceptor's name, and other annotations. Page 2 includes a list per year of the number of matriculants exceeding 200 prior to and since the Civil War (i.e., 1853-1861 and 1866-1890), and it includes the New Orleans School of Medicine's matriculant counts during the six years of its existence (1856-1857 through 1861-1862) for comparison. Inserted into pages 10, 30, 66, 78, 92, 105, 120, and 136 are published graduate and matriculant lists from 1880-1890 (lacking 1882-1883 and 1883-1884).
