Letter from Judah P. Benjamin apologizing to Jefferson Davis for the delay in answering his letters. Benjamin explains that an accident had left him incapacitated for the past eight months. He had been unable to sleep without the aid of narcotics, but he was now recovering. In reference to Davis' questions regarding General Johnston, Benjamin did not remember being at the Greensborough meeting. He gave Davis his recollections of the meeting in March of 1862 concerning Johnston's retreat.
