A letter from David Pierson to William H. Pierson requesting a mosquito bar and summer pants by the return of Bob Rey's wagon. In this letter, it is mentioned that the celebrated criminal McRee has left for trial in Natchitoches. He writes about how General [Thomas James] Churchill's division was in Shreveport and is expected to march to Texas. Owing to lack of supplies, Pierson explains that the District of Arkansas has been abandoned; the Army of Alexandria is low on provisions as well. He explains that Forney's division is located near Houston and that the Red River gunboats were headed for Alexandria. He believes that the Northern forces might attack Alexandria because they fear French intervention.
