A donation letter from L.H. Allen on behalf of various individuals pledging support for the Amistad Captives. In his letter, Allen asks Tappan not to print the names of the donors as they "are not all abolitionists, but they all feel right on this particular subject," asking instead, that a copy of the December issue of the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Reporter be sent to each of them. Allen reports that he has shown the facsimile of Kale's handwriting to all he has called upon; however, some believe it was not written by Kale without aid, "its orthography being so correct."
