This item contains a signature of Charles-Edouard (or Charles Edward) Brown-Séquard (b.1817-d.1894) a Mauritian physiologist and neurologist. He identified cases with spinal cord hemisection, and described the clinical presentation corresponding to a syndrome which bears his name (Brown-Séquard syndrome), for which he is best known among neurologists.
