Description: The [New Orleans] Canal and Banking Company was to pay $756 to the Provost Marshal to defray expenses of the commission that examined its condition as per Special Orders Number 69. Following the order is a receipt, dated 1864 June 13, written and signed by Major W.W. Howe, Acting Assistant Adjutant General, who stated that the Canal and Banking Company had paid the required sum.
