Lintel 3 from Temple IV at Tikal, carved from sapodilla wood, highlights the triumph of Yik'in Chan K'awiil (son of Jasaw Chan K'awiil I) over the center of El Peru in 743 CE. It depicts the ruler seated on his throne and borne on a palanquin; a double-headed effigy serpent arches behind him, and the Celestial Bird Deity perches atop a panache of feathers. The lintel appears at the summit of Temple 4, at a height of 65 meters, or 212 feet, above the plaza below.
