Trénaunay de Chamfret had been manager of the Paris Duverney concession at Pointe Coupée, title to which had passed to his nephew. On 1766 November 5 the Superior Council had ordered the uncle to give his nephew an accounting of his administration. He did so and, after giving control of the concession to his nephew, was found still owing 73,352 livres, which he obligated himself to pay.
